The Trial Monitoring Project Coordinator is responsible for developing Trial Monitoring Projects within the Platform’s programmes. The candidate will be expected to independently develop the Trial Monitoring concept further, identifying and engaging donors, identifying countries of interest, conducting desk-based research and ultimately deploying field-teams in-country. The Coordinator will initially be working independently with some supervision from the Management Board but should expect to grow a team and liaise with all of the Platform’s programmatic teams.

Whilst this is currently an unpaid part-time role, this is a senior role within the organisation and with funding will develop to a paid role. This role is ideal for someone looking to remotely demonstrate leadership and development in an international environment alongside their other commitments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The role will initially be a business scoping and development role, transitioning to trial monitoring implementation project. There is scope at the transition phase for a review of individual job description/ terms of reference, including significantly expanding the team.

The Trial Monitoring Project Coordinator will design and conduct a trial monitoring programme. This will ultimately include collecting and synthesizing data on judicial proceedings, supervising of national trial monitoring officers, data collection and reporting, ensuring buy-in from the judiciary.

He/she and their to-be-created team will conduct legal analysis, monitor the application of the legal framework as well as of national/ international standards and norms in judicial practice and prepare recommendations and reports.

  • Support in the development of well-designed projects for submission to institutional donors
  • Seek out, identify, and track funding opportunities and develop potential revenue streams
  • Maintain and organise the grants files, emails, timelines, donor records relevant to grant submissions
  • Closely cooperate with project coordinators and directors across the organisation, ensuring project and regional visibility (incl. relevant blog and Monitor posts)
  • Contribute to maintenance of relationships with key stakeholders

Phase One: Project Planning and Design

  • Develop detailed project plans outlining objectives, scope, timelines, and deliverables for the trial monitoring project.
  • Identify key milestones and create a timeline for each phase of the project.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define project goals and success criteria.
  • Develop basic SPCMEALS (Strategy, Planning, Communications, Monitoring, Evaluation,
  • Accountability, Learning, Sustainability) framework

Phase Two: Funding and Resource Mobilization

  • Research and identify potential funding sources, including grants, donations, and partnerships.
  • Prepare and submit funding proposals and grant applications.
  • Manage donor relationships and ensure compliance with funding requirements.

Phase Three: Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including NGOs, government agencies, local communities, and international organizations.
  • Coordinate regular meetings and communication to ensure stakeholders are informed and engaged.

Phase Four: Project Implementation

  • Oversee the operations of the trial monitoring project(s).
  • Coordinate activities across different countries to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Manage logistics, including travel arrangements, accommodation, and equipment procurement.

Team Management

  • Recruit, train, and supervise project staff and volunteers.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members and ensure timely completion.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Other general duties

  • Manage the development of the project, incl. administration
  • Engage in project development and grant writing to sustainably expand the Project
  • Organise webinars within the Project’s specialisation
  • Promote the Project online and offline
  • Assist with the recruitment of staff within the Project
  • Support the Platform where required

Qualifications:

Mandatory

  • Passion and dedication to the mission and values of the organization, result-driven commitment, ability to work in an international team and handle uncertain situations with flexibility
  • Master’s degree in international law, international security, peace and conflict studies or other related fields
  • Good orientation in the latest developments in the rule of law
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, public speaking skills, and ability to convey complex information and messages in a simple way and easily understood by target audiences

Desirable

  • Experience in coordinating small to medium-sized groups
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with out-of-the-box thinking to propose new initiatives
  • Willingness to continuously learn and develop new skills
  • Previous experience with non-profit organizations and project management
  • Experience with hosting and organising online events
  • Experience with grant writing
