Are you interested in making a career in the migration field? Open Cultural Center (OCC) is a non-profit organisation (NGO) based in Spain and Greece that works towards the inclusion of refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers by offering activities to both host-country nationals and third-country nationals.
We are offering a long-term volunteering position within OCC Spain, focused on supporting the Communication team. As a communication assistant ( Events & Content ), you will play a crucial role in supporting our communication efforts across various channels. This position is for 10–12 months.
Main Tasks
- Produce and edit content (e.g. write social media posts, blog articles, web
pages, emails, ads…) - Post and schedule content on different social media platforms, while
interacting with the OCC community online; - Support the communications team with creating awareness-raising
content, e.g., writing articles for different blogs, emailings, testimonials…; - Produce and edit visual materials through Canva or Photoshop (graphics,
reels, stories, etc.); - Support with creating landing pages, designing flyers, copywriting, sending
newsletters and emails, etc. - Attend events to take pictures and videos of our activities;
- Support the implementation of the communication strategy;
- Take part in the ESC activities (organisation of team building activities,
awareness raising in schools, etc.); - Support the rest of the team and participate actively in the organisation’s
activities.
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication;
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail;
- Strong interest in working in the non-profit/social sector and basic
knowledge of the migration context of Europe; - Able to speak and write in English
- Easy-going and loving an intercultural environment;
- A motivated, proactive, open-minded, tolerant, creative, and self-reliant
person; - Knowledge of various social media platforms (e.g., Linkedin, Instagram,
etc), as well as social media management tools and automation tools such
as Mailchimp or Active Campaign; - French, Spanish, or Catalan is a plus;
- Knowledge of WordPress is a plus;
- Experience or interest in photography, video-making, graphic design, and
related software (Canva, Adobe Suite…) will be considered a plus.
Volunteer requirements established by ESC program (*)
- Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years old.
- To have a legal residence permit in an EU country.
- Never having done an ESC volunteering before.
(*) Candidates that don’t meet these requirements won’t be able to be considered as potential candidates for this volunteer position.
What do we offer?
Our volunteering program is funded by the European Commission through the
European Solidarity Corps program. This means that volunteering provides:
- Travel costs coverage: Up to the limits established in the Erasmus+ Guide
distance calculator from the volunteer’s region of residency to our center,
and back - Free Accommodation: Provided in Castellterçol, Moianès. The
accommodation is fully equipped (kitchen, bathrooms, washing machine,
etc.) - Monthly allowance: 310 euros per month
- Insurance: Henner
- Free Online Language Courses (English, Catalan, Spanish, and Arabic)
- Regular cultural events in Barcelona and networking opportunities within
our communities - Ability to develop your knowledge and skills in all aspects of content
creation & marketing in an NGO
