Job Description

Background and justification

Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) is one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations. The IRC provides relief, rehabilitation and post-conflict reconstruction support to victims of oppression and violent conflict. Operating in over 40 countries, IRC’s mission is to help people whose lives and livelihoods have been shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and take control of their future.

This humanitarian crisis reinforces gender inequalities (men/women; boys/girls), with negative impacts such as: violence, rape, limited access to resources, restricted movement, etc.

IRC’s 2020 commitment to gender aims to reduce disparities in its programs and operations. Programming will seek to put in place programs that overcome the barriers women and girls face to leading good lives in health, education, security, power and the economy. This involves all programs in all sectors that seek to reduce gender disparities by positively changing harmful norms and inequalities. IRC’s commitments are not limited to the promotion of gender but are also centered on inclusion and diversity objectives that seek to promote the differences of each staff member, as well as respect for different cultures. IRC aims to be an inclusive environment that takes into account all categories of staff.

In view of this inclusion and diversity, and as part of the implementation of the GEDI action plan, the country program has decided to promote the integration of people with reduced mobility into an internship program within IRC Cameroon for a period of two (02) months and in various sectors according to the needs identified by the program and operations managers, in order to give them access to a professional environment and strengthen their capacity in their respective areas of expertise.
