JOB OVERVIEW
The Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) community mobilizer will be leading all information provision, outreach, risk mitigation and community mobilization efforts. Core activities include dissemination of information, assessment of risks faced by women and girls in the targeted communities and development of response strategies, capacity building of community members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Adhere to and proactively promote the women-, girl- and survivor-centered support approach, and the GBV guiding principles
•Identify key protection risks, barriers and mitigation/reduction measures
•Organize community activities for information dissemination or other purposes
•Work with protection team to ensure IRC protection is responding to the evolving needs of communities
•Maintain positive coordination and relationships with partner organizations, local authorities and other sector staff.
•Through regular community outreach build and maintain relationships with communities, including local leaders, different groups, and stakeholders, to foster an environment of support to women and girls and survivors of GBV and IRC programming
•Prepare and submit weekly work plans in a timely manner
•Support the protection team in conducting assessments and other activities that gage risks of at-risk groups
•With the technical support from the Prevention Officer, develop appropriate messages on the types of services and support available to survivors of GBV
•Assess the topics that met the needs of the community and particularly women and girls
•Provide and reinforce appropriate safe and confidential referrals of survivors of GBV; and adhere to the GBV guiding principles throughout all GBV outreach and engagement interventions. This includes ensuring confidentiality of survivors, and respect for their wishes and decisions
•Support distributions of risk reduction items (inc. dignity kits)
•Prepare information for reports.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
•Language: Ukrainian required, English will be an advantage.
•Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law, social sciences or humanities or others related field.
•Experience: Relevant experience in the humanitarian field or facilitating group activities, trainings and workshops and mentoring others.
•Experience of interaction with local authorities.
•Demonstrated experience with community work, community mobilization and engagement, and working with women and girls affected by conflict.
•Clear understanding of and interest in the well-being of women and girls and supporting their healing after the experience of violence.
•Excellent communication skills.
•Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients/beneficiaries.
•Strong level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
•Participate in WPE-related coordination meetings as requested by the supervisor.
REPORTING STRUCTURE AND TEAM COLLABORATION
•Internal collaborations: Child Protection team; Protection Rule of Law team; Economic Recovery and Development team; Health team.
•External collaborations: GBV actors, organizations and agencies.
•Reporting structure: Field coordinator, WPE Manager, WPE Prevention Officer.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION
•This role requires full-time work in the office.
•The position will be based in Kharkiv office, with business trips to Donetsk and Sumy regions in relation to ongoing activities, after security assessment, with the possibility of overnight stays in a hotel or guest house
•Travel to other locations is needed up to 30% of time
•Work in the matrix organization
