Job Overview: The Youth Futures Coordinator oversees educational and enrichment programming for IRC’s Youth Futures After School and Summer Camp Programs. The coordinator leads a team of interns, volunteers and part-time staff to ensure the program integrates best practices for teaching and tutoring students, social-emotional learning principles, and that youth education goals and objectives are accomplished using a holistic, collaborative approach in partnership with school staff, caregivers, and youth themselves.
Major Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee implementation and program delivery for the IRC After School Program and Summer Camp at various school and community sites.
- Build partnerships with school districts, schools and staff to ensure working partnerships, administrative logistics, and referral systems are implemented for school youth.
- Manage participant recruitment, retention, attendance, and family engagement.
- Maintain accurate and complete records on program participants, attendance and outcomes including entering data into multiple required databases. Prepare internal and external reports as required by funders.
- In collaboration with the youth program supervisor, implement monitoring & evaluation (M&E) tools and activities on program progress and achievements.
- Supervise program staff, in alignment with IRC’s People Management Standards, providing regular feedback and opportunities for professional development.
- Supervise volunteers and interns to support program administration and implementation.
- Co-lead with the part-time youth futures staff and plan weekly workshops and lessons, expanding and improving current evidence-based curriculum.
- Collaborate with Youth Program team members to support students in planning for post-secondary education.
- Attend Youth Education Team meetings; fulfilled required administrative duties, including but not limited to submitting and approving timesheets and expense reports.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, counseling or equivalent work experience.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 3 years working with English Language Learners required, preferably in instruction.
- Teaching certification and experience in the public school system a plus.
- Prior experience with youth counseling, case management, or coaching and/or prior experience working with refugee or immigrant populations preferred.
Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:
- Demonstrated competency in program planning and implementation including the ability to manage large groups of youth from vulnerable and/or multicultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRC’s work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills in English; proficiency in a language spoken by client populations a plus.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with colleagues and partners in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment, and the ability to present in public.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using data and fiscal tracking systems strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, access to personal, insured vehicle, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.
Working Environment***:***
- A combination of standard office environment and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. Occasional availability on evenings and weekends required.
Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
