How to Apply
The application process is carried out via the WBG’s e-recruitment system and includes the following steps:
- Initial registration with the Member Center: the user can create a new account or log in using an existing one
- Completing the World Bank Internship Application Form: the candidate’s contact information and data on professional and academic experience are required and documents are uploaded.
Selection Process Phases
The World Bank internship selection process may vary depending on the department or office to which the intern is applying, but generally includes the following steps:
- Creating a profile and submitting an online application;
- Evaluation of the application (undertaken by managers);
- Competency-based interview (only selected applicants);
- Selection notifications.
It is important to understand how the application analysis process takes place. After submitting the online form, a database of available curriculum vitae is created. Managers then access the system and select candidates according to the needs and criteria of their respective areas.
It is important to highlight that professors, researchers or World Bank staff may influence the managers’ decision-making during this process, serving as referees for the interns. Therefore, if you have contacts who may have some influence at the Bank, this is a good time to mobilize them.
Documents to Submit
The application process requires you to submit a:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- World Bank Internship Statement of Interest
- Proof of enrollment on a graduate degree program – This document may be submitted in English or the candidate’s native language.
It is worth mentioning that incorporating the World Bank’s vocabulary and mindset in the documents presented for selection is fundamental.
Evaluation Criteria
Recruiters will seek to identify whether applicants’ academic and professional experience is relevant to the Bank’s activities, as well as evaluate their job expectations and level of knowledge about the institution’s work.
Other Information
It is important to submit your application in advance, observing the deadline on the online system and according to the time zone defined by the World Bank. You will not be able to make any further changes once your application has been submitted.
