Job Title: Retreat/Event Facilitator

Department/Location: USAID / Washington, D.C.

Reports To: ISPI Project Manager

Type: Consultancy: 16 days (10 days planning remote, 5 days retreat in DC, 1 day after report remote). Tentatively for January 13-17, 2025

Overview:

On behalf of USAID, IBTCI is seeking a consultant to serve as a retreat facilitator for the Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), Office of Regional Sustainable Development (RSD) retreat from January 13-17, 2025 in Washington, D.C. The Retreat Facilitator must have experience in preparing retreats, surveys, and developing retreats agenda and following up post retreat. The start date is immediate. Specific experience supporting team retreats and facilitation skills are needed to successfully accomplish the tasks.

The purpose of the retreat is to assess Bureau technical support services needs, including meeting evolving technical needs, including:
1) Facilitate RSD priority setting exercises for the team’s contributions to the Bureau and region in terms of service delivery and support to LAC leadership and the field, as well as program management and implementation, and policy development.
2) Strategic consensus on near-, medium-, and long-term priorities and work streams.
3) Improved cross-team coordination, both within each of the 6 teams (and across the Bureau);
4) Identification of mechanisms for cross-team collaboration;
5) A common understanding of individuals’ roles within teams and across the Bureau;
6) Enhancing understanding of what works and what doesn’t;
7) A healthier workforce as a result of reduced stress and tension (individually and collectively) and a greater sense of accomplishment and enjoyment with work.

The Retreat Facilitator will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement and will only have access to publicly available information.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

Deliverables:

  • Prepare for RSD team wide retreat for a 35 person office (including, but not limited to, assessment, surveys, agenda planning, etc.) including meaningful participation for remote and virtual participants. Including bi-weekly preparatory meetings with the retreat planning committee.
  • Facilitate a workplace style assessment for the team prior to team retreat to incorporate into the retreat discussions – DiSC, Values in Action character strengths survey, etc.
  • Facilitate RSD team retreat tentatively slated for January 13-17, 2025.
  • Provide follow up report and next steps from RSD Retreat.

Qualifications

Specific Knowledge Requirements:

  • Prior experience facilitating and supporting team retreats

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong planning, management and execution skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize across demands
  • Ability to adapt to changing work requirements and priorities

Education: High school diploma, relevant formal education and training, and/or completion of a recognized facilitator’s training program.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Authorization: Candidate must be authorized to work in United States of America

Pay Transparency Statement: We are dedicated to ensuring a thoughtful, compliant, and equitable approach to employment compensation. Our commitment includes conducting a comprehensive salary analysis that considers individual skill sets, qualifications, business needs, internal compensation data, and industry and labor market surveys. The anticipated pay range for this consultancy is 450.00 to 698.00 USD daily.
