Purpose of the Consultancy

Sightsavers is looking for a qualified and talented Inclusive Education consultant. The consultant will work closely with the EARC project team to deliver the assignment as detailed below. The consultant will also liaise with Sightsavers Inclusive Education technical team in the delivery of the assignment.

Sightsavers and the Ministry of Education have been implementing a 3-year Inclusive Education pilot project, in collaboration with Organizations of Persons with disabilities and civil society stakeholders in Homa-Bay, Nairobi and Kilifi counties. The purpose of the project is to the ensure that children with disabilities receive a quality education within the wider education system.

Scope

The consultant will work with the project team in the planning and implementation of the programme activities as per the workplan in the three (3) Counties of Nairobi, Homa Bay and Kilifi. This will include, but not limited to;

  1. Planning and executing the launch of the FEA tool.
  2. Engagement with MoE, KICD and KISE on assigned tasks
  3. Conducting programme activities with OPDs, teachers, CSOs and community leaders as per the workplan
  4. Convening the Project Advisory Committee meetings
  5. Plan and participate in the project review / learning workshops.
  6. Work with the End of Project evaluation consultant in the planning for the evaluation
  7. Attend to project and Sightsavers workshops / meetings as assigned by the supervisor.
  8. Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Qualification in Inclusive Education or related field
  • Experience working with children with disabilities in educational settings
  • Experience in working with education stakeholders, such as teachers, parents, and community members
  • Networking skills and ability to build partnerships with relevant organisations
  • Programme implementation skills and knowledge of inclusive education best practices
  • Knowledge of special needs education and disability rights

Skills:

  • Experience in reporting and documentation of project activities and outcomes
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Communication and presentation skills and ability to deliver trainings and workshops

Consultants with a proven track record in the above will be procured to undertake the project through an expression of interest process.
