Mission and objectives
The United Nations Security Council in Resolution 2245 adopted on 09 November 2015 established the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS). This replaced the United Nations Support Office for AMISOM (UNSOs), established in 2009. https://unsos.unmissions.org/unsos-mandate. United Nations Security Council Resolution 2245 decided that UNSOS will be responsible for support to AMISOM, UNSOM, the Somali National Army (SNA) and the Somali Police Force (SPF) on joint operations with AMISOM.
Context

United Nations Security Council Resolution 2245 decided that UNSOS will be responsible for support to ATMIS, UNSOM, the Somali National Army (SNA) and the Somali Police Force (SPF) on joint operations with ATMIS.
The UN Volunteer will work as Ration Assistant to support the work of Life Support. He will be under the supervision of the Chief Ration Unit and Other Colleagues during the period covered by the assignment.
He will be working with UNSOS which provides Logistics Support to troops of African Union but he will interact mostly within colleagues within the department and also the food ration contractor and some military logistic officers.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Ration Unit, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
• Assist the Unit in performing the quality control and quality assurance on food ration to supply to troops;
• Manage the stock of CRPs and bottle of water in the Mission area
• Coordinate with the food ration contractor for timely and efficient distribution of food ration
• Representing the Unit during the meeting with the military logistic officers;
• Conduct of periodic inspection in the contingent facilities
• Assist the Operation Unit in the review of food orders
• Perform any other tasks requested by the Chief of the Unit or his supervisor.
