Understanding the World Bank Group Young Professionals Program (WBG YPP) in detail is the first step to succeeding in the selection process. THE 2023-24 ESSAY QUESTIONS OF THE WORLD BANK YPP ARE HERE! – June 22, 2023
Great news about the World Bank YPP: the essay questions are finally out! The earlier you start preparing your answer, the better your essay will be and, consequently, the greater will be your chances of getting to the next stage of the selection process. For the 2023-2024 WBG YPP, the organization is asking candidates to answer the following (in 500 words or less, for each question):
- Why would you like to join the World Bank Group Young Professionals Program and what makes you a great candidate for the program? In your response, please also indicate your preference for participating in the program at the World Bank, IFC or MIGA, and why;
- Overlapping crises, such as disease outbreaks, climate change impacts, conflicts, and financial crises, coupled with fiscal and resource constraints, pose a complex challenge to many countries. How would you advise the World Bank Group to support countries in addressing that challenge by, amongst other, increasing governments’ capacity to respond and address the needs of their most vulnerable populations, working with the private sector to mobilize and enable financing for development, and engaging with the international community? If possible, please illustrate your response with examples based upon your technical expertise and experience.

FIRST BATCH OF INVITES FOR THE PANEL INTERVIEW! – November 9, 2022
We have exciting news: the invites for the panel interview are already starting to be sent! The interview will be in person, and in the invitation e-mail, the Bank will inform the Global Practice (GP) by which you will be interviewed. The Bank will also ask about your current location (city/state & country), as this will determine where the interview will take place. Pay attention to the deadline informed in the e-mail!
Not everyone receives the invite at the same time, so don’t worry: there are probably many more invites to come in future batches, especially for IFC candidates.

Applications for the WBG Young Professionals Program are officially closed! The process had two application windows: one from June 15 to July 15, where most people applied; and one from August 15 to September 30, only for IFC and MIGA profiles.
As one of the most prestigious selection processes in International Development, the Bank’s YPP now turns to the screening phase. The first step of this stage is the Hirevue Interview: a digital interview where candidates have to record their answers through the Hirevue platform.
The first batches of these interviews have already happened throughout September. With the closing of the IFC/MIGA Track applications, more batches are expected to come, so if you have applied, keep checking your inbox for the Bank’s emails!
