Org. Setting and Reporting

– Supervisor:
The incumbent of this post is responsible to the (Senior) Field Security Of f icer in SFO, LFO, JFO and WBFO, or to the Senior National Security Officer in HQA and GFO.

– Supervisees:
The incumbent of this post supervises the Guard Force Services at the Field Of f ice or HQ Amman.

Responsibilities

– Assists the supervisor in the development and implementation of the ad hoc Security Risk Management (SRM) process and Security Plan, and other routine security documents, such as, but not limited to, security contingency plans and evacuation plans .
– Assists the supervisor in the development and implementation of security policy, guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure security compliance.
– Manages security access control procedures, systems, and equipment; conducts periodic security assessment for premises and installations to ensure provisions for an effective guard force; is responsible for the overall training and day-to-day operational/technical support of the guard force.
– Assists in preparing, coordinating, and providing security briefings and training for personnel
– Prepares and administers or assists in the administration of security related budget s; advises the (Senior) Field Security Officer on the acquisition and inventory control of security related equipment.
– Conducts periodic premises/installation Security Risk Management (SRM) processes; ensures compliance with SRM measures; assists the supervisor in the establishment and effective function of a Communications/Wardens system for UNRWA and the periodic testing of these systems.
– Assists the supervisor to monitor, collect, update, assess and disseminate security related information; is responsible for reporting on security matters to Headquarters as required by the supervisor.
– As directed by the supervisor , responds, and assists personnel affected by security incidents, and monitors compliance to security standards and procedures.
– Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with local security authorities; Monitors the local security situation through local media and professional networks providing regular updates to the supervisor on any emerging security issues that may affect UNRWA.
– Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Education

Work Experience

At least four years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in security, disaster or emergency settings, with security responsibilities in the public or private sector, such as corporate environment is required.

Languages

Very good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Contract Status:

– Limited Duration Contract for 6 months renewable appointment subject to funding confirmation.

Grade: Band F.

Monthly basic salary: 896.20 .USD

•30 days of Annual leave in addition to maternity and sick leaves: subjective to eligibility.

* General information

1. This vacancy notice is open to internal candidates only. Daily paid workers holding a daily paid contract may be considered as internal candidates. As an Area post, only candidates who reside in Syria at the time of applications are eligible to apply. The Agency does not assume responsibilities nor support the issuance of work permits for those who has no legal documents to live in Syria, job opening applies only to potential candidates residing within the field of the post, residing within commuting distance of the duty station of the post.

2. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates assisting the Agency to meet its commitment to gender parity.
